Our
Story

Hello, I’m Natasha — founder and lead teacher of Making Music Academy.

I’m a mum and passionate music educator with over a decade of teaching experience. I hold a Master of Teaching (Primary) and spent five years studying at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA).

My career has included working with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra’s Crescendo program, bringing classroom music to low socio-economic schools, and currently teaching as an Early Learning music tutor and piano tutor at one of Perth’s leading private boys’ schools. Prior to this, I worked at a number of music schools around Perth.

Music has been part of my life since childhood. I began with violin, studied singing to Grade 8 Rock & Pop (Trinity London) with distinction, and also learnt piano and guitar. Over the years, I’ve been privileged to help students of all ages discover the joy of learning music.

In 2024, I rebranded my teaching business to Making Music Academy as I began welcoming new teachers to meet growing demand — and to prepare for the arrival of my first child. Now, as a proud mum to my one-year-old son, I continue to teach while leading a dedicated team of music educators, sharing my passion for music across Perth.

Lessons That Come to You

No need to get in the car, rush through peak hour traffic or sit in waiting rooms — our friendly teachers bring the music to your door! Most of our students are in the Mosman Park area, but we also travel across Perth CBD and beyond. If your suburb isn’t on our map, get in touch — we’re always adding new teachers and might already have someone close by.

What We Teach

Right now, you can choose from:
🎹 Piano
🎤 Singing
🎸 Guitar
🥁 Percussion & drum kit
🎶 Ukulele

Most of our students enjoy 30-minute private lessons, but we also offer:

  • 20-minute lessons for little ones under 5 (perfect for short attention spans!)

  • Longer lessons including 45-60 minutes for students preparing for exams or diving deeper into their music journey

  • Private group lessons - got siblings or a group of friends who want to join in the fun?

  • Public group lessons - we hold group lessons from our hired teaching space in Cottesloe

Every student is welcome to a trial lesson. From here you can secure your lesson time and day by enrolling for the term (around 10 weeks). Our term dates vary slightly from the WA Department of Education and will be communicated well in advance to all enrolled students.

Our Approach

We don’t believe in “one-size-fits-all” teaching. While we take inspiration from the WA Curriculum and Kodály method, every lesson is shaped around the student. Some follow our recommended music books, others prepare for AMEB exams, and many learn their favourite pop songs or learn how to accompany themself. For complete beginners, we like to start by getting to know the student — seeing where they’re at, exploring a few fun options, and finding the best starting point together. Whether you’re picking up an instrument for the first time or continuing from where another teacher left off, we’ll make sure your lessons are we’ll make sure your lessons are engaging, fun, and full of learning opportunities that leave you with a real sense of achievement every time you play.

At Making Music Academy, our goal is simple: to inspire a lifelong love of music.
