Our
Story

Hello, I’m Natasha, founder and lead teacher of Making Music Academy.

I’m a mum and passionate music educator with over a decade of teaching experience. I hold a Master of Teaching (Primary) and spent five years studying at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA).

My career has included working with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra’s Crescendo program, bringing classroom music to low socio-economic schools, and currently teaching as an Early Learning music tutor and piano tutor at one of Perth’s leading private boys’ schools. Prior to this, I worked at a number of music schools around Perth.

Music has been part of my life since childhood. I began with violin, studied singing to Grade 8 Rock & Pop (Trinity London) with distinction, and also learnt piano and guitar. Over the years, I’ve been privileged to help students of all ages discover the joy of learning music.

In 2024, I rebranded my teaching business to Making Music Academy as teachers joined me in taking on my waitlist of students and to continue teaching during my brief maternity leave. Now, as a proud mum to my son, I continue to teach and grow the school while leading a dedicated team of music educators who share my passion for nurturing students and their love of music.

In 2026, Making Music Academy was nominated for a Business News Award.

Lessons That Come to You

No need to get in the car, rush through peak hour traffic or sit in music school waiting rooms - our friendly teachers bring the music to you. Most of our students are in the Mosman Park area, but we also travel across Perth CBD and we are slowly expanding through Western Australia. If your suburb isn’t on our map, get in touch - we’re always adding new teachers and might already have someone close by.

Our Approach

We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all teaching, so we don’t follow a fixed curriculum. Instead, we draw on a range of approaches - including the Western Australian music curriculum and the Kodály method - to shape lessons around each individual student.

Some students follow our recommended books, others prepare for AMEB exams, and many enjoy learning their favourite songs or accompanying themselves. No two lessons look the same.

For beginners, we start by getting to know each student - understanding where they’re at, exploring a few options, and finding the right starting point together. Whether you’re brand new or continuing from previous lessons, we ensure every session is engaging, enjoyable, and leaves you with a real sense of progress.

At Making Music Academy, our goal is simple: to inspire a lifelong love of music.
