Founder & Lead Teacher

Meet Natasha Mitchell - the driving force behind Making Music Academy! Natasha brings over a decade of experience and a wealth of qualifications to her work, offering unparalleled expertise in both music and education. She is dedicated to nurturing each student’s musical journey and fostering their emotional well-being, confidence, and self-expression through the power of music.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Early Childhood Music Specialist, Music Tutor – Scotch College | 2025

  • Master's of Teaching (Primary) – Edith Cowan University | 2023
    Specialisation: Performing Arts

  • Crescendo Teacher – West Australian Symphony Orchestra (WASO) | 2022

  • Bachelor of Contemporary Music – Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) | 2020
    Specialisation: Vocals & Songwriting

  • First Recipient of the Haselhurst Scholarship for Contemporary Vocals (WAAPA) | 2020

  • Grade 8 Trinity Rock & Pop Vocals

Other Achievements:

  • Songwriter & Recording Artist – Releasing music under the name Tasha Mitchell on platforms like Spotify. Natasha’s debut EP, Finding Light, showcases her exceptional songwriting talent and musical versatility.

  • Trained Ballerina – Achieved distinction in Grade 8 Royal Academy of Dance, including pointe work.

  • Drama – Studied at John Curtin College of the Arts (JCCA), where she earned recognition for five years of distinction.

Natasha’s Philosophy:

As the lead teacher at Making Music Academy, Natasha oversees all aspects of the academy, from teaching and curriculum to communication with parents and students. She is deeply passionate about fostering a love for music in every student, helping them explore their creative potential while building confidence, emotional resilience, and a sense of accomplishment. Natasha believes that music is not only an art form but a powerful tool for personal growth and self-expression.

Many of our teachers have trained at esteemed institutions like the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) and are currently pursuing teaching degrees to further enhance their expertise. Our philosophy is to nurture well-rounded musicians, foster a deep passion for music, and encourage creativity in every student. All our teachers hold essential certifications, including a Working With Children Check, ensuring a safe and professional learning environment for all students.
